“I’ve had 3 miscarriages. I’m looking at the ultrasound screen as the tech is waving the wand over my belly and I said to her before she said anything, ‘I don’t see a heartbeat.’
Like when you get pregnant you know the advice is: don’t tell anyone until you get through your first trimester. I don’t necessarily believe in ‘don’t tell anyone’ because the people you are gonna be the first people you tell that you’re pregnant are also the people that you want by your side if you have a miscarriage.
Having had both a pill-induced miscarriage and a D&C, I can tell you that these are invasive procedures and they’re painful. Anyone who tells you that people are using abortion rather than birth control is, like, out of their mind.
I was starting to worry, am I ever gonna be able to have a baby? So we went to this fertility clinic and the first round of IUI worked. We went in and there was a heartbeat. I started crying when I saw that heartbeat.
I now have a beautiful 2.5-year-old daughter to show for it.”
