The Linux App Summit is back in 2026, and this time the event is heading to Berlin, Germany on May 16–17, 2026. Organized by the GNOME Foundation and KDE e.V., this annual conference brings together developers, designers, and contributors from across the Linux ecosystem to discuss the future of Linux applications.
This year’s summit is especially significant because it marks 10 years of collaboration between GNOME and KDE through the Linux App Summit initiative. Over the past decade, both communities have worked together to improve the Linux application ecosystem, including app stores, distribution methods, and developer platforms.
At Linux App Summit 2026, attendees can expect discussions and talks on topics like:
• Flatpak and application sandboxing
• The distro-centric vs app-centric ecosystem debate
• The future of Linux application packaging
• UI and UX design for Linux apps
• Digital sovereignty and open technology
• GNOME and KDE developer ecosystems
• AI and machine learning in Linux
The event will take place at Betahaus Berlin, a well-known co-working and event space located in the heart of Kreuzberg.
If you're passionate about Linux development, open source software, or the Linux desktop, this is a great opportunity to connect with the community. The event is open to attendees, and the Call for Proposals (CFP) is also open for speakers — including first-time presenters.
