Released on the 1961 album, "Starlight, Starbright", an album of songs about stars inspired by the success of Linda's first hit, "I've Told Every Little Star". "Blue Star" had earlier charted at #29 for Felicia Sanders in Billboard in 1955. It was the theme song from the TV show "Medic" starring Richard Boone. A competing single by Jan Peerce was also issued in 1955. In the UK, this song charted at #2 for Cyril Stapleton, #20 for Charlie Applewhite, and #20 for Ron Goodwin, all in 1955. Later, it bubbled under the Hot 100 at #120 for the Ventures in June 1966.
