Inspired by the idea of a massive, looming presence just outside the door, Agoraphobia plays with the tension between perception and reality. What feels overwhelming at a distance can become something entirely different up close.
The concept came from imagining a mastiff as a towering, terrifying monster only to realize it’s not so scary once you meet him. Those exaggerated fears we carry can take on a life of their own… until they don’t.
Visually, the piece draws inspiration from the artwork of Travis Knight (bass player and vocalist of LILLIAN), whose intricate illustrations reveal hidden images when viewed through colored light. That layered, dual-reading quality shaped the world of the video, something playful, surreal, and slightly deceptive.
And yes… there are dancing dogs.
All backgrounds and initial tests were created in Procreate.
The animation was primarily hand-drawn in Clip Studio Paint and composited in After Effects.
No AI was used in the process.
