A sleazy piece of toast is determined to win back the beautiful Egg.
Created by Sacha Beeley as her graduation film at Central Saint Martins, Big Toast is a delightfully absurd hand-drawn comedy packed with dancing, romance, and questionable life choices.
Originally created as Beeley's graduation film at Central Saint Martins and released in 2018, Big Toast began with a simple doodle of a piece of toast rubbing butter on itself. Working with a co-writer, she expanded that absurd image into a playful romantic narrative packed with oddball characters, surreal humor, and plenty of dancing.
Animated entirely frame-by-frame in TVPaint, the film wears its influences proudly, drawing inspiration from Adventure Time, The Simpsons, and the work of filmmaker Sophie Koko Gate. The result is a snappy, offbeat love story that's equal parts charming, ridiculous, and unforgettable.
