⚡Lightning Talk: 1 Year, 15 Certs, Zero Kubernetes at Work: How I Became a Golden Kubestronaut - Yu Misaki, independent
The speaker never set out to collect certifications. He just thought Kubernetes looked cool.
It started with watching a colleague deploy workloads and seeing nodes scale up automatically — all visible in real time through k9s. That curiosity led to CKA — which took two attempts. But passing revealed how much the next exams overlapped, so he kept going and earned Kubestronaut. Then a new question: "What about all the CNCF technologies I've never touched?" A Raspberry Pi home lab turned unfamiliar tools into genuine interests — and before he knew it, all 15 certifications were done in 14 months, without ever using Kubernetes at work.
This lightning talk traces that unplanned chain reaction. Attendees will learn:
1. All you need is curiosity — no production experience or employer support required
2. One step leads to the next — each exam opens a door to the next; momentum builds naturally
