Amanda Zieba Learning with the Word Nerd | Libary Scavenger Hunt || A Student Engagement Activity @AmandaZiebatheWordNerd | Uploaded August 2023 | Updated October 2024, 14 hours ago.
What if we could find a way to lure our students into the wonderful world of the library... get them to paw all over the books and dig into the treasure the shelves have to offer? What if we could get them to purposely search for new-to-them books, authors, formats, and genres? What if we could gamify our library time and make it a place of discovery and fun, rather than silence and boredom? YES! The answer is yes. We can do all of that. And we can do it with a library scavenger hunt. Perfect for upper elementary aged students through high school, heck I might even try this out with some of my college students! It’s an ideal lesson for a classroom teacher or librarian and it will definitely, absolutely get your students participating and reading.
In this video you will learn how to do the library scavenger hunt activity with your students, including a wide variety of implementation ideas. I will also share the inspiration behind the strategy and hype you up to give it a try. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to email me, wordnerd@amandazieba.com. I hope that your students feel even half the level of excitement doing this activity as I did in creating it.
