We review the LG G4 OLED Evo TV - the latest flagship Gallery series model which now offers not only a wall mount version but the 55 and 65-inch version can be bought with a tabletop stand that holds the panel vertically. It features MLA+ and META Technology 2.0 that increase brightness and HDR performance, but the real star of the show is the new Alpha 11 AI Processor.

The LG G4 is still the OLED TV to beat in 2024, offering superbly accurate picture quality for film fans with Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG high dynamic range formats. There are excellent smart TV capabilities with WebOS 24 once again proving to be the easiest system to use thanks to a simple design and superb features.

Gamers get 144Hz capabilities along with 4K/120Hz (including Dolby Vision), Game Optimiser mode including ALLM switching, dark room mode, NVIDIA G-Sync (144Hz validated) and AMD Freesync Premium as well as four full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 inputs. It is an all-in-one OLED TV for the whole family offering excellent features for all use cases. It wouldn't be surprising to see it make an appearance on our Best Gaming TV rundown in relatively short order.

The newly added features are worthwhile thanks to the powerful Alpha 11 AI processor, with excellent sharpness to the image thanks to AI Director processing using contrast and brightness techniques to make edges and details look sharp and natural, with no signs of forced edge enhancement and colours looking accurate and natural. You also have the option to tailor your peak highlight detail roll-off with 1000, 4000 and 10,000 nit mastered content using the HDR Professional mode. And with HDR the G4 uses the latest LG Display Micro Lens Array (MLA+) panel and updated Meta Technology 2.0 Booster processing. This combined with the new Alpha 11 AI processor ups the peak highlight capabilities of the TV.

I have no hesitation in saying the LG G4 is the Best-in-Class OLED TV for 2024 and continues to offer the best all-in-one use case for the whole family.

We use Portrait Displays Calman colour calibration software, a Murideo Seven Generator and a Klein K-10A meter profiled to a JETI Spectraval 1511-HiRes spectroradiometer for measurement and calibration. It is important that when measuring for review purposes the meters used are profiled and high enough quality to provide accurate readings. Be aware that not all reviewers publishing results use high-quality measuring equipment or have that equipment regularly checked, profiled and recalibrated.
