BenQ W2710i 4K DLP Projector Review - Also known as the HT3560 in the US.

Designed to be used in a dark room for critical movie viewing, the BenQ W2710i is a genuinely great DLP projector that produces accurate SDR images and has a decent stab at showing HDR content with an attempt to tone map to the capabilities of the projector.

Blacks are good and a darker shade of grey from traditional DLP home entertainment machines, with some decent shadow detail retrieval and only an odd instance of black crush seen within tricky mixed-light scenes. Its not a push to describe the SDR image quality as cinematic and capable of excellent colour reproduction, with life-like skin tones and a natural-looking colour palette for this price point.

Motion and video processing are also very good for this level of the market with pulldown applied correctly to 24fps material. Overall, at the market position and price, the BenQ W2720i offers an excellent attempt at cinematic images for use in a dark room for critical viewing.

It doesnt reach the cinematic highs of the latest laser-powered JVC and Sony units and you shouldnt expect that from such a budget-conscious machine, but BenQ has done a great job with the W2710i. Its a Best Buy.

*The Good*
Excellent image accuracy in Filmmaker Mode out-of-the-box
Superb calibrated performance
ISF modes for locked settings following calibration
Extensive calibration controls
Very good video processing and motion
Decent black levels that are dark grey and some decent shadow detail retrieval for a DLP projector
Decent representation of HDR content which looks slightly brighter and more dynamic than SDR
Good smart TV integration

*The Not So Good*
Some black crush visible with tricky content scenes
DCI-P3 tracking could be much better
Noisy at 34db in HDR10 mode
DLP lacks overall contrast for HDR
