Dr. Carlos Yebra López (@thehyperpolyglotactivist PhD from New York University) is a Postdoctoral Research at University College London, and a Ladino instructor at the Oxford School of Rare Jewish Languages, as well as the CEO of The Hyperpolyglot Activist and Ladino 21.
His research focuses on the revitalisation of subalteranized languages of the Global Hispanophone, particularly Ladino (Judezmo, Haketia) and Chavacano.
He is the author of ‘Decolonizing Spanish: Ladino and Chavacano as Sites of Global Hispanophonia.’
In this clip he talks to us about how a speaker can intentionally make themselves more, or less, understandable — and whether “comprehensibility” is a strictly linguistic matter.
