In this video he talks to us about “translation cubed”, an approach to learning (an app!) he made in which you engage with a text in three levels of translation:
1. An idiomatic translation of the sentence
2. A literal word-for-word translation, in the word order of the target language (TL)
3. “Active reverse translation” in which the TL words from step 2 are partially blanked out and you must fill in the blanks
