Links in the end screen to other Reclaiming-relevant playlists! -- In this video I'm going over a few options for how we could work through this book as a discussion/working group. There are three main timeline options which I describe throughout the video. The text describing them is also included again at the end of the video so you can see them all at once. Pause to read at your own pace!
The full title of the book, to give you an even better idea of what it is about, is: "The Twelve Wild Swans: A Journey to the Realm of Magic, Healing, and Action". An additional subtitle or tagline on the cover reads, "Rituals, Exercises & Magical Training in the Reclaiming Tradition." It was co-authored by Starhawk and Hilary Valentine (published in 2000).
I worked through this book on my own back in 2012 or 2013, and it can probably be considered the main thing that really began my path in Reclaiming Tradition. I'm very excited to do this work again!
My teacher-adjacent disclaimer:
I have now student-taught an Elements of Magic class (2021), but this discussion/working group will not be the same as "taking an Elements class" in the tradition. This is something I want to offer for our personal and collective benefit, and it can also help you get an idea of how a Reclaiming class might work, but this is not going to be quite the same as taking a class "officially". It will be up to any future teachers you may have whether they consider this a prerequisite or "having equivalent experience." Basically, I may be in the process of becoming a trained teacher, but I do not want to mislead anyone into thinking this is an official class! It can probably help prepare you for classes, though, if that is something you end up being interested in. =) I definitely feel that working through this book helped prepare me for Witchcamp, classes, and Reclaiming community, but I did still take an Elements of Magic class at camp (in 2015). I didn't skip it and try to count this book as that! But I did let them know any books I had read and worked through before, so they had an idea of my experience level and that I wasn't completely new to it. =) And next time I'm co-teaching one, I'll let you know!

![Critique is Necessary, Negativity is Not
Hey, viewers! This video is a kind of response to Thorn Mooneys Good Vibes Only video, but rather than responding to every individual thing said in that video, this video is more to continue the conversation and add some more thoughts. This was the first time Ive ever really struggled to decide on a video title, and I came up with this one, Critique is Necessary, Negativity is Not by mirroring a quote I like that has been said in many ways by different people. (So many people change one word and attribute it to someone else, I dont even know the original wording or who said it, at this point...!) But its always something like Change is inevitable, struggle [or growth] is an option. In this case, critiquing things is necessary in order to help things improve, but just being negative is not required. That is not the only way to be critical! I hope you enjoy the video. =)
You should definitely watch Thorns video here, if you havent:
Good Vibes Only: Being Critical in a Movement that Requires Positivity

At 27:23 I talk about a PaganPerspective topic we had last year, where someone asked about processing negative emotions by writing it out (like journaling) and being told that doing so had negative magickal effects. Check out my video on that topic here:
