Little Tokyo in Los Angeles is a treasure trove for geeks and Japan enthusiasts. I didn't really know what to expect when I went there - and I was pleasantly surprised by everything there was to see and do.
I guess you could argue that this isn't a reflection of the real Japan; this is a reflection of the American expectations on Japanese culture, but it was still extremely interesting (and extremely fun!) to visit.
In this video you can see everything from ramen places and cakes, to Japanese grocery stores and anime figures, to a place called Little Akihabara - filled with gacha stores, crane machines, video game stores and a lot more.
