Recently, a new PS1 softmod backup loader was released under the name of tonyhax. The original v1.0 came out with support for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 or Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 where if you had a PS1 memory card with the modified save game file on it, when you create a skater, the exploit launches and you can swap out your legit disc with a backup disc in its place.
This is pretty cool. At the time of this writing, I'm waiting for my own copy of THPS2 to arrive, and I'll do my own demo as well. I'm excited that PS1 is getting some love since PS2 seems to get all the attention these days. See more details in the link section below, thanks!

Quick tips:
1) Make sure hard drive is raw, no partition to begin with.
2) Run WinHIIP as admin.
3) Format and add games as necessary. Profit!
