This dungeon isn't an especially difficult challenge, but that is in part due to the fact that we're already at max level and have Lyrin using a positively legendary firearm the likes of which the world might not see an equal of for many years to come. That being said, there's still plenty of spiders and spectres, both of which can pack a nasty punch if they catch you by surprise.
Where there are large groups of spiders, however, that is often another species. Most of our encounters with them have ultimately ended amicably and I hope that we don't break this trend here, even if doing so would net us a pretty nifty weapon.

Those that had played the original game came into the sequel knowing that thered be a particular type of enemy that would eventually show up. They took the limelight from the Covenant as the number of threat not just to humanity, but the entire galaxy, and our first encounter with them was in quite possibly one of the worst levels in a first person shooter from that era.
I am, of course, talking about the Flood. As this is a forerunner facility that the Heretic is stationed on, it makes sense that theres some of them contained here... at least, they WERE contained. Their newly found freedom presents a very awful complication in our mission to take out the Heretic, but the Artiber is nothing if persistant... and yet, his meeting with the Heretic and the one that made him so will ignite the embers of doubt within the Arbiter, a flame that, try as he might, he will not be able to extinguish.

With Ondras Witness recovered, we have the key needed to reach the reliquary. We got it by freeing those of the Low Tide which, while a good deed, has alerted the high abbot and everyone else in the main abbey that someone is here that shouldnt be. Theyre sure to be guarding the reliquary which means we have a pretty difficult fight in our future.
Presuming that we survive that, we will finally have a chance at stopping the Eyeless from destroying the whole region. Said chance comes partially from what well find in there, but mostly from the goddess that this temple is dedicated to. Its not the first time Lyrin will have spoken to a diety, but this conversation is going to far longer.

The creators of this campaign really wanted to show off the lighting system in the ludicrous edition and my, is it obvious with this level here.
Darkest War is pretty gloomy even if you dont go around engaging in heroic vandalism like I do. The shadowy corners allow for sneaky ambushes and other traps to be sprung upon you, forcing you to sneak about when you really want to dash through everywhere MP40ing everything that moves and lots of things that dont.
As fun as that is, rushing headlong into new places is a great way to get yourself killed, so its best to temper your enthusiasm for dakka just a little bit, but not too much. There arent enforcers and deathfire monks around every corner... at least, not yet.
