I discuss how I feel about the game on the whole, including which levels I liked and disliked the most. Basically, these are some important sticking points:
- The game had a lot of underdeveloped gimmicks, a lot of levels with poor pacing, and a lot of levels that just involved riding on a single platform, but not many levels were outright bad.
- The soundtrack definitely could have been better, especially with all the remixes (both within this series and otherwise).
- World 9 was a waste. The lack of midway points makes the levels unnecessarily frustrating, and few if any of them are worth the effort to unlock (and the World 9 star coins are DEFINITELY not worth the effort to try for).
- 9-7 is still the worst.
- The Yoshi levels were generally fun, if easy.
- The game could have used more secrets; almost all of the secret exits were useless to anyone who doesn't want to skip levels.
- I didn't mention it in the commentary, but the motion control gimmicks were forced and pointless as all heck.
- On the whole, the game didn't really meet the potential for what it could have been, but it was at least decent.
See you next game!
