We've finally reached the last area in the game, stage 7, Ye Olde Bounty. So, since it's the final level, must we face the ultimate challenge of the game, something more difficult than anything before? Well...no. Not even close. This stage is another 3-parter, but each part is very linear, and the only remotely challenging parts are the jumps across the floating barrels and posts; everything else is almost pathetically easy. This includes the boss, who might be the easiest final boss in any video game that I've ever played. If you have even a modicum of ability to observe the battlefield and his attack pattern, he will never hit you. He's even sadder than the stage 6 boss. After beating him, we get a short―and pretty meaningless―bonus level to rescue a few more mice, then the ending cutscene and credits. The fact that all of that―a 3-part stage, a boss, a small bonus level, the ending cutscene, and the credits―still added up to only about 22 minutes tells you just how short and unthreatening this level is.
I'll save my final written thoughts for the one extra video that I have planned.
