The foundation of the Roman Catholic Church is the Papacy and the Magisterium which claims to have apostolic succession from Peter to present day, and that the Scriptures, Tradition and the Magisterium are all of equal authority. The Roman Catholic Church claims to be the pillar and support of the truth, but it's claims are not biblical. The foundation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teaches and believes that there was a great apostasy of the whole Christian church with the death of the apostles, and what is called the Melchizedek priesthood authority was lost until God called Joseph Smith to be a latter day prophet and that God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son appeared to him in 1820. This is what is called the First Vision (Joseph Smith Testimony), and Mormons claim that in 1829 John the Baptist appeared to him and laid hands on him giving him the Aaronic priesthood, and later Peter John James John appeared to him and gave him what is called the Melchizedek priesthood authority. This is what Latter Day Saints call the Restoration of the Gospel, and from that there are modern day prophets and apostles just like in the first century church in authority over the Church. Both the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints are built upon false teachings, false leadership, and a false gospel.
