This is a letter from the past written by Charles Manson to me Michael of the Backporch Tapes. In it he explains his relationship with Leslie Van Houten.
Says in it basically he barely even knew her. I was a friend of Manson's for many years he would answer my questions about many things and this is a letter he wrote about Leslie Van Houten. Charles Manson would write to me more as a friend than a person trying to solve the case from 1969 so most letters are personal to me and my questions and thoughts in letters to him.
Leslie Van Van Houten has had 21 parole hearings since 1982. Most parole boards denied her bid for freedom. But five panels have recommended her release since 2016, saying she had expressed remorse and was no longer a threat to public safety. Two California Governor's have rejected and over turned those recommendations
