While visiting Shine One Truck Wash & Polish Shop in Emporia, Virginia, Chris caught up with Anthony Taylor, owner of XRoads Logistics, LLC.
Anthony is a third-generation truck driver with more than 20 years behind the wheel. Ironically, he grew up disliking driving and traveling—and once swore he would never become a truck driver. After leaving a dead-end sawmill job, he earned his CDL, entered the trucking industry, and convinced his wife to help him start their own business.
Today, Anthony operates as a fully independent owner-operator, finding his own freight, serving his own customers, and hauling everything from grain, corn, soybeans and fertilizer to recyclables, glass, road salt and other bulk commodities.
His working truck is a 2005 International 9900iX equipped with a CAT ACERT engine, an 18-speed transmission and 3.55 rear gears, pulling a 2026 aluminum end-dump trailer. Anthony also explains why he purchased a second 2005 truck as a backup to protect his customers, reduce downtime and keep XRoads Logistics moving.
