Decided to lash up some LEDs to an old AVR devboard I made years ago. We'll have a matching set going the other direction, but for now it looks pretty neat with just 13. (Will be 13 strands on each side when it's done with an RGB set in the center lighting up a logo.)
(I'm driving ~29 channels with a software brightness control-- one per pin-- from a 16MHz clock and with 32 brightness levels per pin and still getting about ~190Hz update. Pretty good, but I'm probably better off dropping the frame rate and going for more brightness levels instead.)
