As extreme heat fuels wildfires worldwide this summer, Lebanese officials and residents have accused Israel’s military of systematically sparking blazes that have burnt swathes of forest and farmland land in the country’s south. “Almost half of the burnt areas are forests and the other half is agricultural land, and it’s being done systematically,” says Chadi Abdallah, director of the National Council for Scientific Research.
