Antonito, CO was a significant town when the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad operated its narrow gauge lines in Colorado and New Mexico. Today it’s the eastern terminus of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. Leaving Antonito, trains roll through flat agricultural land for several miles before encountering the mountains on the 64-mile line to Chama, NM. A 140-minute DVD documentary about the Cumbres & Toltec is available from yardgoatimages.com.
