Start directly with playing the modern #Jugger #Chain, a mighty #Meteor #Hammer, by this Fast-Track tutorial. This is step-by-step, meant that you just do the exercises in the order shown, to earn solid chain basics and advance further from there. More experienced players might skip parts 1 and 2, part 3 offers more advanced techniques.
My 9-year-old son got quite a good grip on chain playing through the steps shown, so it should work for you just fine. Note that we start building up a basic feeling, which means that you will have to adjust stuff you learned here later when you feel more comfortable with the chain (yes, this is based on the Japanese way to teach complex martial arts by starting simple).
In the more advanced parts, we will reduce or even skip the workout-like repetitions of techniques.

Youll need:
Cutter, tape (strong), double-sided tape, 2m pullwinded fiberglass orf carbon pipe (fe. 16x12), 1m thick tube insulation (fe. 15x25), 1m small tube insulation (fe. 15x15) , scissors, measure, marker pen, saw, mouthpeace (for sawing), mattress foam ca 60mmx50mm, yoga / sleeping mat.
I would recommend using clear tape and pool noodle to save weight if you are making a private staff. For clubs, the stronger tape might be more durable test ongoing :)
UPDATE: Some numbers:
Weight without tape 400g
Weight with strong tape 460g
Weight with clear tape 410g (!)
(Strong tape weight tag padding - 90cm x4 : ca 40g; block padding: ca 10g)
=Significant weight reduction through clear tape (50g).
