Make drawing rainbow arcs EASY with this step by step tutorial by Cheri. Great for beginner artists!
Create a big circle, then draw lines across the circle into eight equal pieces like a pizza or pie. Cheri likes to draw freehand in the video but it is also okay to measure and draw lines with a ruler.
Erase the bottom half of the circle then carefully draw seven bands in each "slice" of the rainbow. Make sure the bands line up with each other. It is okay to erase and redraw the color bands if they do not look balanced the first time. Practice makes perfect! Draw a fluffy cloud underneath each end of the rainbow. With a fine point pen, outline the entire rainbow and clouds. Erase the pencil lines and color your rainbow.
Remember ROY G BIV from science class: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. Here Cheri takes artistic license and uses a purple marker instead of indigo (which is really a dark blue-purple color), and a magenta marker instead of violet (purple). Use a light blue to put a shadow on your clouds. Sign your rainbow drawing!
