Compassion is one of the most important qualities that Leah M. brings to her job.
As a nurse in the dialysis unit at UPMC, Leah cares for critically ill patients. It's important to her that her patients know that they can count on her.
"I tell them, 'I'm here for you. I don't care if you scream my name — just tell me you need me,'" she says.
"I think that alone makes them feel cared for. They know they're in safe hands. That's what my job is for."
