The answer to the question of which you should use? Lead pip.
In this video I demonstrate the differences between the lead and lag pip, and reveal the secrets that some of the best pilots in the 'verse use to put damage and hits on target.
A lot of players don't know what either setting does, and I was tired of guides spending huge amounts of time to get extra eyeballs on their content without explaining the importance of the pip settings in simple terms. I also didn't want to leave players guessing as to which is best to practice with and use -- for the majority of pilots in the majority of scenarios, the lead pip is by far the best setting to use to keep up with your target and put a lot of damage on them quickly. In a game of maneuvering (and Star Citizen 3.19.1 very much is) the lead pip can give you an edge, though I emphasize it is also beneficial to have a way to quickly swap between the pip settings.
