Last Light Review — 1 Hour TI4!? @Shelfside

A true 4x experience in only 60 minutes!? Grey Fox games' Gamefound funded tabletop game has a lot of area control and hand management ideas to harvest the most victory points from the universe. Designer Roy Cannaday has clearly played a lot of Twilight Imperium and Eclipse 2nd edition in all the mechanics crammed into this simultaneous sci-fi game. But does the rush of everything come at a cost, or is the rushing even a good idea? Is it even a true 4x like Sid Meier's Civilization 2010, or is it more like Scythe in not having parts of the 4xness? Is there enough time to do the Ameritrash elements, or will it feel more like a Euro, like Civ a New Dawn?

$Project: Elite is ANXIETY board gaming (and why it works) Real time dice rolling makes for a super frantic cooperative game! Project ELITE (by CMON) has players taking on the role of sci-fi shooters to eliminate the aliens and complete an objective. Weve only tried the first mission so this is not a review, rather just a depiction of how crazy this asymmetric miniature filled game is! No kidding, you roll for everything, like movement and firing weapons (that need to be loaded). The bad red die roll moves the aliens during the two minuted allotted time! Luckily these tactical rules are quite simple, like determining line of sight or just how to roll the dice for combat. But how frantic is this kickstarter game really, and is it worth the anxiety?
