Today is the FINAL day of potato planting here on the farm! After 8 long days and over 1,300 acres, we’re finally wrapping up potato planting 2026 — but not without a few breakdowns along the way. From snow during planting, plugged planters, broken drive lines, GPS problems, and nonstop repairs, it’s been a crazy season already.

While the potato planters finish up, I’m out running the dammer diker trying to stay ahead before irrigation season starts. Between five tractors running nonstop and nearly 800 gallons of diesel burned every single day, spring farming is definitely one of the busiest and most expensive times of the year.
