CTDOT has recently installed new signals along the Berlin Turnpike on these massive mast arm assemblies (arms the same diameter as the shafts). Supposedly it’s for hurricane wind resistance and to hold future signal equipment, as the turnpike passes by CTDOT headquarters and they are using the corridor to test new technologies. This intersection at the northern CTDOT headquarters driveway also appears to be the first implementation of flashing yellow arrow in the state, which the DOT is looking to incorporate into future signal installations moving forward.
