A chance to use the full capacity of the Bickmark lathe β a large sycamore blank turned into a single-curve, footless bowl, accompanied by a matching tray turned from the same timber. The tray isn't just a stand; it works as an independent piece in its own right.
The airbrushed colour ties the bowl and tray together visually, and Hampshire Sheen wax gives both pieces the same quiet satin surface. Two pieces that work as one.
In this video I cover:
- Selecting and preparing a large sycamore blank
- Turning a single-curve, footless bowl form
- Designing and turning the matching tray
- Airbrushing colour across both pieces for a unified look
- Finishing with Hampshire Sheen wax
