Silka Luisa is a writer and executive producer, whose most recent project is the new Apple TV + series SHINING GIRLS, which premiered globally on Apple TV+ on April 29th.
Starring Emmy Award-winning actress Elisabeth Moss as Kirby, and a supporting cast featuring Jamie Bell, Phillipa Soo, and Wagner Moura, SHINING GIRLS is based on the 2013 best-selling novel by Lauren Beukes. The award-winning novel generated praise for its mix of historical fiction, gritty crime and sci-fi, as well as its vivid, glowing characters. Hailing from MRC Television, Luisa serves as showrunner, executive producer and adapted the series for television.
Recently announced, Luisa will write and executive produce BLADE RUNNER 2099, from Alcon Entertainment, in association with Scott Free Productions. The project, which would mark the first Blade Runner live-action series, is currently in development at Amazon Studios. The next installment of the neo-noir sci-fi franchise will be set 50 years after the film sequel.
Previously Luisa wrote and executive produced the pilot THE WILDING for USA Networks with Tim Kring producing. In addition, she also wrote on Netflix’s hugely successful FEAR STREET feature franchise. Luisa also served as a consulting producer on the series STRANGE ANGEL for Paramount TV+ created by Mark Heyman.
Luisa graduated from Columbia University’s MFA program and is originally from Miami.
