The Deep's tropical Lagoon of Light has undergone a £500,000 refurbishment and is now home to hundreds of brightly coloured fish as well as our very own Zebra sharks who were born and bred right here at The Deep.
Representing where the rainforests meet the reef, the lagoon reflects the diversity of aquatic life and unique habitats found in and around many of the islands and archipelagos in the Western pacific oceans, from North tropical Queensland to the outer islands of Palau in Micronesia.
This display boasts amazing new corals and large mangrove trees. These are very important to the health of the reef and surrounding coastline as they provide an essential nursery ground for a number of species amongst their submerged root system. It also features a wave machine that replicates the tidal movements of a true coastal habitat so our animals feel right at home.
