Lagoon is an Action Rpg for the Super Nintendo/Famicom, released in 1991 for that specific console. It was Produced and Published by Kemco, and Seika Corporation. The initial release for Lagoon was on the X68000 in 1990, which happened to be a lot better version.

STORY: 15/20
With the land suffering, the release of demons around the world are causing even more pain. The hero Basir is called into action to save the Kingdom and rescue the Princess in the castle that has been raised to the sky by a supernatural force bent on the world's destruction and the release of the Demons locked away inside.

GRAPHICS: 14/20
The graphics are quite nice and anime like. There's framed animation cutscenes that has no story alongside them so it's a little hard to understand what the story is trying to tell you from them. Monsters look okay, your character looks great, town NPCs look nice also. Magic spells look cool when you actually get to unlock them.

SOUND: 15/20
This game's OST is fantastic, I love it. Brilliant tracks accompany your hero and really get you in the mood to adventure. However, I will say that a couple of songs do seem to be variant versions of one song but they all sound great. The sound effects are some what standard, the boss dying screech is hilarious. The sword sound when it hits something is well.. just a TING!

GAMEPLAY: 14/20
This is where the game is either a hit or miss with most people, what lets this game down is the ridiculously short weapon hit, you have to be a master at timing and positioning to get hits in, and the same goes for bosses, you'll miss A LOT! This is a pretty standard RPG in terms of gameplay, learn the story, head to A.. do what you got to do, return to village, move on to B, and so forth, it's really nothing special but for me I just love this game so much for it's simplicity but yet still manages to be such a challenge on the bosses. The game had quite a lot in the story cut out of the SNES/SFC version.. if you don't believe me play the X68000 version.. it's definitely the superior version.

SYSTEMS: 12/20
Well, there's a save system in place in case you die, and you'll use this a lot, trust me. There's a nice magic system where you can mix and match crystals and some other items for different magic types.. buffs or attack. There's a shop system in place for you to buy items and equipment.. though you can only carry one of each so this makes it a challenge to know when to use items at the right time.

OVER ALL: 70/100
I love this game so would instantly recommend it (even today) but only if you have the patience to learn attack and positioning, dying over and over on bosses don't bother you, and you don't mind getting lost in huge dungeon areas, 'cos they sometimes are huge and confusing.
