BROADWAY-MANCHESTER: Los Angeles Fire Department crews arrived quickly to the 'Economy Motel' at 10924 South Broadway, to find fire in at least one unit on each floor of the 5,700 square foot, 18 unit, two-story U-shaped garden-style lodging facility. Though functional smoke alarms allowed most building occupants to escape unharmed, LAFD Firefighters rescued a man, woman and two teenage girls from the fast-moving flames. The four suffered from moderate smoke inhalation, with the man also sustaining burn injuries to his extremities. All four were taken by LAFD Paramedics to an area hospital in fair condition. No other injuries were reported. Fire and smoke damage was limited to two units on the ground floor and four units on the second floor. The cause of the fire is under active investigation.
