Last week, we honored the men and women of the LAFD Communications Division.
Before the sirens sound. Before a truck moves. Before a firefighter steps off the rig, a voice speaks.
Our 911 operators answer more than 500,000 calls for service every year. Nearly 1,400 times a day, someone in Los Angeles picks up the phone during their worst moment and one of our own answers on the other end.
They ask the right questions under pressure. They keep people calm when calm feels impossible. And they stay on the line because sometimes, a voice is the only thing keeping someone steady until help arrives.
To every member of our Communications Division we see you. We are grateful for you. And we are proud to serve alongside you.
