PICO-ROBERTSON - On August 11, 2025, LAFD responded at 10:47 AM to a structure fire in a six-story residential building on S. Elm Drive in the Pico-Robertson area. Flames were visible from a fourth-floor balcony, prompting a request for additional resources. Firefighters rescued a 94-year-old woman with minor injuries after receiving reports of a person trapped in an adjacent unit. A second patient, a 54-year-old man, was also located; both were in fair condition and transported to the hospital. Crews contained the fire to the unit of origin, protecting nearby units and floors above from damage. Knockdown was declared in 26 minutes with 44 firefighters on scene. LADOT managed traffic as companies performed overhaul and smoke removal; LAFD Arson Section initiated an investigation into the fire's cause.
