On May 8, 2025, at approximately 6:54 PM, a traffic stop was initiated on a silver sedan after a check revealed the license plate was no longer registered to the vehicle. Upon approaching the car, the reporting officer noted the distinct odor of freshly burned marijuana. The driver and passenger both admitted they did not possess a medical marijuana license.
After the driver was checked for warrants, the officer instructed a second officer to have the passenger step out of the vehicle. The passenger was not cooperating, and the officer warned her that refusing a lawful order would result in being forced out and arrested.
At this time, the passenger utilized her cellphone to call the Police Dispatch via 911. She informed the dispatchers that she was in fear for her life and requested a supervisor on the scene. After an officer unlocked the door and the passenger eventually stepped out, she refused to leave the doorjamb, despite having been given several opportunities to comply. When an officer attempted to place her under arrest, she immediately pulled away and re-entered the vehicle, positioning herself in the back seat. As officers attempted to pull her out, she began striking one of the officers in the chest and right wrist with her left foot.
