Ready for a pair of inexplicable difficulty spikes? If you answered yes, then congratulations, 12F has exactly what you're looking for! As far as I know, pretty much nobody likes the two sigil bosses on 12F, and for good reason.
Magatama of Amber Fangs combine several aspects that make this thing a huge pain in the neck to fight.
1) Remember how the bosses you've been fighting a couple floors below were all in the 50k-70k HP range? Well this thing has 188k HP. Which by itself is actually not that bad if you've seen how fast those lower HP bosses could be bursted down, but...
2) It has 7200 DEF and MND, which is just shy of 9F Tenshi's 8000 DEF/MND. This, too, is in and of itself not that difficult to deal with given that you've probably gotten 15-20 levels since then, if not for...
3) It has 100 resistance to HVY and SIL, and all other ailments for that matter. Very specialized characters like Wriggle and Mystia still has a very faint chance of inflicting their ailments, but the chance is so low that they're barely worth bothering unless you have Reisen on the field lowering resistance for them. It does have 0 resistance to DEF/MND debuffs so those can be used to crack open its armor, but it is fairly resistant to ATK/MAG debuffs and almost immune to SPD debuffs as well.
4) Similar to Tenshi on 9F, it is heavily resistant to four elements, in its case FIR/CLD/WND/NTR, and it only has one weakness in DRK.
5) The four points above combined already makes damaging this thing a chore as most characters can barely damage it without heavy usage of buffs and debuffs, but you can't take the fight slowly either because it passively gains SPD every turn (a feature that is not hinted towards the player in any way). Its offensive abilities aren't that formidable, but it has a nasty combination of being able to use Black Universe and a lot of AoE attacks, and with how it speeds itself up with time, this combo becomes more and more difficult to deal with.
All in all, this is a fight that tests your damage output ability to the extremes, and more annoyingly, you can't use a lot of the cast to meet that challenge effectively due to its elemental resistances. Add in the randomness of black universe and this is definitely one of the more difficult bosses in the main game, or at least one of the most reviled ones. Luckily, it "only" has a DTH resist of 100 so you can actually skip the fight with a combination of Reisen and Komachi (with lv5 Ferriage in Deep Fog and Shinigami's Work), although the chance of your success is 9% so expect a few retries.
Since I have Yuyuko on the team and her swallowtail lance hits weakness and pierces MND well, I used her as the centerpiece of my offensive strategy. She's able to remove a pretty hefty chunk of HP per attack and her MP pool is deep enough that she can use the spell a lot without worry, so that's nice at least.
