Arcangelo Corelli - 'La Folia' for Viola: Variation 21 - Un poco meno mosso

Day 15 of a video journal of me attempting the theme and its 24 variations of Arcangelo Corelli's 'La Folia' op. 5, no. 12 for viola and piano.
Top of the final page today! What a journey this all has been! Not a lot to say about this one. Had a tricky double stop jump near the beginning of the second half and that slurred double stop at the end that gave me trouble. Why do all the tough parts have to be right at the end? I made a lot of good recordings but had to restart due to messing up the very end! That said, I like the second half more. has a kind of regal sound to it.
I tinkered with the idea of repeating both sections like most other interpretations of this piece do but, because I didn't practice the embellishments too much, I scrapped the idea today. Might do it another time. I added a little accelerando at the start part way through as well but didn't deviate from what was written other than omitting a trill. Both looking forwards to and fearing number 22. It's fun and I hope I can make a good recording of it.
Dedicating this entry to a long-time friend, Elvengael, who's enjoying a birthday today! I've known her as an online friend for over a decade and she's a super talented artist (drawing) from Scotland. I have enjoyed watching her style develop and mature. Hope you're enjoying your...unicorn...birthday cake today that you totally asked for!
