This includes CNN, C-SPAN, ABC, CBS, and NBC. The channels were simply changed as the videotape ran. Times and networks, as well as technical information, are below. Reporting from the likes of Wolf Blitzer, Bernard Shaw, Michael Beschloss, Bill Moyers, Peter Jennings, Sam Donaldson, Dan Rather, Charles Kuralt, Bryant Gumble, Tom Brokaw, Katie Couric, Tim Russert, and many more. The video begins as the motorcade starts its journey to the Capitol at approximately 11 am Eastern Standard Time.
Technical: Recorded on a RCA VR671HF VHS VCR live to a BASF T-130 Super High Grade VHS tape via average analog cable signal. Some contrast and color adjustments were made. Upconverted to 1080p and 60fps to preserve image quality. Recorded at the 4-hour LP speed except for Clinton's oath and inauguration speech, which was at the superior SP speed. Not knowing how long the ceremonies would run, I attempted to save tape just in case. Could've used the better SP speed the whole time. Oh well. Didn't think it would matter to me three decades later. ;-)

This performance is from September 11, 1998, promoting a performance later that night at the Ivory Tusk.
Lee & Wolfe aired Friday nights 5-8 pm on the University of Alabama's student station, WVUA-FM, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama from 1995-2003, and was thrice voted #1 College Radio Show in America.
Technical: Recorded on a Sony CCD-TRV65 Hi8 camcorder with an improvised direct audio line from the auxiliary bus on the station's control board, consisting of a cable from a cassette deck's headphone output to the mic input of the camcorder. Ridiculous, but it sort of worked, with a little distortion. Video was shot 16x9 letterboxed in a 4x3 NTSC image, then zoomed to fill the frame here. Luma and chroma corrections were applied. Upscaled to 1080p60 to preserve quality. The Sony Hi8 tape used was part of a poor batch that degraded a bit over the two decades, and spots and sparkles are apparent. Not Necessarily the News - 1988 Year in Review (Comedy)theleeoverstreet2021-01-10 | Not Necessarily the News was a long running satirical news program on HBO. Various HBO promos were left at the end for maximum late 80's nostalgia!

Primarily intended to be shown on a loop in retail stores, it features clips from movies, explanations of the benefits of the format's video, audio, and special operational features. This is presented here in the order the segments appeared on the disc, but with the repeating sections on the second side removed since you, the viewer, are presumably NOT selling laserdisc players to the public with this video. :-D
Pity the poor salespeople who had to hear and see this over and over again, day after day, for hours at a time.

After the passing of Bear Bryant in 1983, Alabama football hit a slump, and 1985 was the first season where things began to feel like they could get back to "normal," which for Bama means a lot of winning! Under coach Ray Perkins, the Tide went 9-2-1 after a losing season in '84, so excitement was returning. One of those wins was in the Aloha Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii against USC. The season also included a dramatic comeback victory over Georgia, and an "Iron Bowl" against Auburn that saw multiple lead changes in the fourth quarter, culminating with "The Kick" by Van Tiffin at the end of that game. This season also features Alabama's last official tie game.
Technical: VHS tape, mono audio, with a very inconsistent video calibration from scene to scene, requiring multiple video levels and chroma adjustments. One small segment edited to please the algorithm. Upconverted to 1080p60 to preserve motion and image quality.

The music, narration, and stories are heartfelt, bordering on worshipful. It's a video that will ring true for older viewers alive when Bryant was coaching, but may feel outright corny for younger fans of Alabama, or college football in general. It is, however, indicative of the love so many Alabama fans and residents had for the man.
Appearances include subsequent coaches like Gene Stallings and Ray Perkins, as well as former player and present day restaurateur Bob Baumhower. Kenny Stabler, Jerry Duncan, Jim Goostree, Billy Varner, Lee Roy Jordan, and others also appear. Bryant's wife Mary Harmon Bryant appears with him. There's even a special comedic appearance by Bob Hope!
Technical: from VHS at SP speed and hifi sound. Some noise reduction and color correction was applied. Upconverted to 1080p60 to preserve image quality. Naturally, there was a focus on corporate anti-piracy propaganda (or proper media ethics if you're not so anarchic). Later in the video, Brother Cane performs "There," which seems to have been written just for Bellsouth. Also, watch for Damon to flip his hair about every 3 seconds! LOL!
BellSouth was one of the seven original Regional Bell Operating Companies after the U.S. Department of Justice forced the American Telephone & Telegraph Company to divest itself of its regional telephone companies on January 1, 1984. They were acquired by AT&T in 2006.

A little something for everyone to be angry about here. This was the morning after the President said "I did not have sexual relations with that woman," and also just hours before the President's State of the Union speech that evening. Hillary uses the phrase "vast right-wing conspiracy" in this interview. Now that we know what Lauer was up to, it's even harder to watch this footage.
The only person coming out of all this looking good today is Monica Lewinsky herself, who is a charming and intelligent professional with a great sense of humor, working as an anti-bullying activist and fashion designer as of 2019. Check her out in a fantastic interview with John Oliver (starts at ~15:35): youtu.be/Yq7Eh6JTKIg
I bet comments here won't exactly be uplifting, but please be civil to each other, or I'm smashin' those delete and block buttons.

Lee's friend Phil happened to have a borrowed VHS camcorder that day. This is the unedited tape with on-air audio mixed in for the interview parts.
It's college radio, and Lee & Wolfe was still a fairly new show, so don't expect the pinnacle of music journalism here. Also, there may be dirty words. ;-)
Technical: VHS tape (Scotch HS T-120) from a VERY used camcorder, SP speed. Video levels & white balance adjusted, and audio denoised. This was part of a free outdoor concert invented out of thin air by the Lee & Wolfe radio show, carried live on-air, to coincide with said homecoming festivities (hence the fireworks), with minimal permission from a station faculty advisor. Stone Weasel played live and loud, and after about three song were shut down by the cops for making it impossible to hear homecoming speeches across the street on the Quad. Badass. Video (shot on DV with a Steadicam Jr.) was edited and synced up with mono on-air audio 20 years later! The video was upconverted to 1080p60 with some luminance corrections, and a little bass boost.

Some video and audio corrections applied, and upconverted to 1080p60 to preserve motion and detail.Obama Iowa Caucuses Victory Speech 2008 (CNN HD)theleeoverstreet2019-03-09 | Live coverage of the 2008 Iowa Caucuses results on January 3, 2008, including Senator Barack Obama's victory speech in Des Moines. Obama's victory over Hillary Clinton and John Edwards was a surprise to many in politics, and likely necessary for his eventual nomination. The video takes place in the 11pm EST hour.

Technical: Recorded via Firewire from a cable box to a 1080i .ts file format. Stored for 11 years. Converted with Handbrake to 1080p60 video for YouTube. Despite CNN's fantastic HD video and graphics, Obama's speech was carried in standard definition since their HD coverage was not so complete in 2008, but at least it's very good SD.

Three great songs and two hilarious interview segments make up this unedited video. Song one is "Like You," song two is definitely NOT "I'm Headin' for My Beddin' Where I'm Headin' for the Night" as they sarcastically claim (it's "Virginia"), and the third song is also NOT "If I Had It to Do All Over Again I'd Do It All Over You" nor "I Don't Want Her, You Can Have Her, She's Too Fat for Me" (it's "Dancing Girls). Dan switched up the microphones prior to the third song, so the mix goes haywire for a while. One mic sounds like a phone for some reason. King Konga interviews are chaotic. :-)
King Konga is: Skeeto (drums), Tony (percussion, xylophone), Steve (bass), Dan (vocals, guitar)
Lee & Wolfe aired Friday nights 5-8 pm on the University of Alabama's student station, WVUA-FM, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama from 1995-2003, as well as several affiliates via mp3 downloads, and was thrice voted #1 College Radio Show in America.

Shanice performed her hit "I Love Your Smile" as well as a cover of Minnie Riperton's "Lovin' You." Recorded from WVTM 13 in Birmingham, Alabama. This was a small "mom and pop" computer and electronics store in the mall in 1991 called 21st Century Electronics. It was in University Mall in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and started in 1990 as a general electronics store, with a focus on satellite television systems, but evolved into a dedicated computer technology store. I worked there from 1991 to 1993, and I'm visible in the mirror with the VHS-C camcorder near the end. The store eventually moved, became 21st Century Computers, and lasted until the 2010's. This video is probably June 8, 1991, based on the baseball game on the TV (Montreal at Atlanta), and that it was on a VHS tape with other 1991 events.
Any help identifying the games and systems in the video is appreciated. One notable system spec sheet @ 03:21: 386/25MHz system, 64K cache, 4MB RAM on board, 40 MB hard drive, tower case, 200 watt power supply, 1.2 MB floppy drive, 1.44 MB floppy drive, VGA monitor, ARC 101 keyboard, 2 serial / 1 parallel ports, Microsoft Windows (3.0), DOS... $2429.00!!! This fantastic performance was a benefit for the student radio station, WVUA, and is made all the more fun by the Halloween costumes. However, the audio is horribly distorted via the direct mixing board output to a Sony camcorder. If anyone has clear audio of this concert (as well as the Dexateens and Stone Weasel who opened for Pain that night, PLEASE let me know!)
Technical: Recorded on a Sony CCD-TRV65 Hi8 camcorder in "cinema" mode (letterboxed 4:3), with a WAY too hot direct line from a mixing board at the club, which is nothing but bass. The video is zoomed to fill a 16:9 frame, and upconverted to 1080p60 to preserve quality and motion.Planet Terry Live on Lee & Wolfe - January 23, 1998theleeoverstreet2019-02-06 | Planet Terry's second live interview and performance on the Lee & Wolfe radio show happened on January 23, 1998. Supporters at these grassroots meetings would watch the DVD, as well as discuss campaign issues and take actions such as letter writing, phone calls, and donations. I organized a few of these in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and hung on to the discs since then. This video begins with a 12 second menu from the DVD, and plays straight through as if you watched the disc in order: An inspirational overview of the campaign, a video of supporters in their own words (by Joe Jensen), the Deans interview by Diane Sawyer on Primetime (see video quality note below), a campaign rally with Howard and Judy Dean in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on January 18, 2004, as well as recent television ads.
Inspirational campaign video - 00:11 Supporters in their own words - 04:07 Diane Sawyer interview of the Deans - 08:54 Howard and Judy in Cedar Rapids - 31:05 Dean commercials - 55:00
Technical: Ripped from DVD. The Diane Sawyer interview video was recorded off broadcast TV, with dark video levels and a lot of what appears to be antenna interference. Video was boosted to improve it some. It can be seen in better quality unedited at youtu.be/KyJFMfcsRAE The supporters video was squeezed horizontally, and this was corrected. Some other audio levels were corrected.Howard Dean Rally in Tucson, Arizona - January 31, 2004theleeoverstreet2018-12-23 | Democratic Presidential candidate Governor Howard Dean rally in Tucson, Arizona on January 31, 2004, ahead of that state's primary. The first few minutes were missed in the recording. Dean shares his ideas and appears on stage with members of the IUPAT (International Union of Painters and Allied Trades) and AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees) unions. The last 5 minutes consists of tons of handshakes, pictures, and autographs, since C-SPAN likes extremely complete coverage.

Supporters at these grassroots meetings would watch the DVD, as well as discuss campaign issues and take actions such as letter writing, phone calls, donations, and even strategizing door-to-door work. I organized a few of these in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and hung on to the discs since then. This video begins with a 10 second menu from the DVD, and plays straight through as if you watched the disc in order: A tour of Iowa headquarters and preview of the caucus by Iowa Campaign Manager Jeani Murray, a brief message from New Mexico Campaign Director Francisco Castillo, Meetup message from Dean, former Vice President Al Gore endorsing Dean, an "enhanced" 12 minute biographical about Governor Dean (see technical note below about image quality), and recent television ads.

Some audio levels were corrected.Howard Dean Meetup DVD - December 2003theleeoverstreet2018-12-12 | The Howard Dean for President campaign sent DVDs to nationwide monthly supporter meetups organized through Meetup.com, and this is the disc for the December 2003 meetings. Supporters at these grassroots meetings would watch the DVD, as well as discuss campaign issues and take actions such as letter writing, phone calls, donations, and even strategizing door-to-door work. I organized a few of these in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and hung on to the discs since then. This video begins with a 15 second menu from the DVD, and plays straight through as if you watched the disc in order: A 12 minute biographical about Governor Dean (see technical note below about image quality), a message from campaign manager Joe Trippi, and an appearance by Dean featuring supporters and an announcement that his campaign will decline public financing. The last segment took place in Burlington, Vermont where Dean and supporters signed a "Declaration of Independence by the People of Dean for America," using a snazzy tablet computer and LCD screen to do so, which was pretty cool for 2003!
Dean Biographical - 00:15 Message from Joe Trippi - 12:45 announcement declining public financing - 16:26
Technical: The Dean biographical video at the beginning was just terribly produced, with extremely dark video levels and dramatic problems with frame rate / field order / something. Video was boosted to at least make it viewable. Some other audio levels were corrected. The biographical video also appears with additional footage later in the January 2004 meetup DVD and looks slightly better there: youtu.be/QmyDQHWRQmoHoward Dean Meetup DVD - November 2003theleeoverstreet2018-12-12 | The Howard Dean for President campaign sent DVDs to nationwide monthly supporter meetups organized through Meetup.com, and this is the disc for the November 2003 meetings. I organized a few of these in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and hung on to the discs since then. This video begins with a 15 second menu from the DVD, and plays straight through as if you watched everything on the disc in order: A message from Governor Dean, a message from campaign manager Joe Trippi, a house party / conference call with Dean, Dean's appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and a September 30, 2003 speech at L.A.'s Union Station featuring actor Martin Sheen.

Technical: The segment from the Tonight Shows was particularly bad, with very dark video levels and some rather dramatic problems with frame rate / field order. It looks as though it was recorded via antenna, and then incorrectly captured and edited. Video and audio were corrected to some degree to make it watchable. Some other audio levels were corrected.
