This performance is from September 11, 1998, promoting a performance later that night at the Ivory Tusk. Lee & Wolfe aired Friday nights 5-8 pm on the University of Alabama's student station, WVUA-FM, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama from 1995-2003, and was thrice voted #1 College Radio Show in America.Technical: Recorded on a Sony CCD-TRV65 Hi8 camcorder with an improvised direct audio line from the auxiliary bus on the station's control board, consisting of a cable from a cassette deck's headphone output to the mic input of the camcorder. Ridiculous, but it sort of worked, with a little distortion. Video was shot 16x9 letterboxed in a 4x3 NTSC image, then zoomed to fill the frame here. Luma and chroma corrections were applied. Upscaled to 1080p60 to preserve quality. The Sony Hi8 tape used was part of a poor batch that degraded a bit over the two decades, and spots and sparkles are apparent.

Alabama Football 1985 Season Documentary - Tide in 85 theleeoverstreet 2019-12-20 | Highlights of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team's 1985 season. After the passing of Bear Bryant in 1983, Alabama football hit a slump, and 1985 was the first season where things began to feel like they could get back to "normal," which for Bama means a lot of winning! Under coach Ray Perkins, the Tide went 9-2-1 after a losing season in '84, so excitement was returning. One of those wins was in the Aloha Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii against USC. The season also included a dramatic comeback victory over Georgia, and an "Iron Bowl" against Auburn that saw multiple lead changes in the fourth quarter, culminating with "The Kick" by Van Tiffin at the end of that game. The only person coming out of all this looking good today is Monica Lewinsky herself, who is a charming and intelligent professional with a great sense of humor, working as an anti-bullying activist and fashion designer as of 2019. This was part of a free outdoor concert invented out of thin air by the Lee & Wolfe radio show, carried live on-air, to coincide with said homecoming festivities (hence the fireworks), with minimal permission from a station faculty advisor. Stone Weasel played live and loud, and after about three song were shut down by the cops for making it impossible to hear homecoming speeches across the street on the Quad. Badass. Video (shot on DV with a Steadicam Jr.) was edited and synced up with mono on-air audio 20 years later! This was a small "mom and pop" computer and electronics store in the mall in 1991 called 21st Century Electronics. It was in University Mall in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and started in 1990 as a general electronics store, with a focus on satellite television systems, but evolved into a dedicated computer technology store. I worked there from 1991 to 1993, and I'm visible in the mirror with the VHS-C camcorder near the end. The store eventually moved, became 21st Century Computers, and lasted until the 2010's. This video is probably June 8, 1991, based on the baseball game on the TV (Montreal at Atlanta), and that it was on a VHS tape with other 1991 events.Any help identifying the games and systems in the video is appreciated. This fantastic performance was a benefit for the student radio station, WVUA, and is made all the more fun by the Halloween costumes. However, the audio is horribly distorted via the direct mixing board output to a Sony camcorder. If anyone has clear audio of this concert (as well as the Dexateens and Stone Weasel who opened for Pain that night, PLEASE let me know!)Technical: Recorded on a Sony CCD-TRV65 Hi8 camcorder in "cinema" mode (letterboxed 4:3), with a WAY too hot direct line from a mixing board at the club, which is nothing but bass.
