An emergency has been declared in the Russian region of Belgorod, as Ukraine’s offensive into the country enters its second week.

The governor of Belgorod has said daily Ukrainian shelling is destroying homes and killing civilians...

...adding that a regional level state of emergency had been declared to "provide additional protection" for residents.

Tens of thousands of locals have been forced to leave their homes in both Belgorod and Kursk since the surprise incursion.
