I was first introduced to Kramies as a solo artist when I reviewed his emotionally imploding track "Hotel In L.A." back in June. I described the song having an "opaque bleakness" within it's trippy nature, it's beauty and it's stark candor. I reached out to Kramies about an interview about his eponymous album and he was kind enough to send it over for me to experience it. It is a stunning piece of work filtered through surreal, divergent filters.
Kramies songs on this album were shaped and elevated by so many talented artists like Jason Lytle of Grandaddy (produced and played), Jerry Becker of Train (produced and played), Patrick Carney of The Black Keys (produced and played), Tyler Ramsey formally of Band of Horses (played), Jim Bogios of Counting Crows (played), Todd Tobias - Guided by Voices (produced), David Goodheim (played), Allison Lorenzen (played) andJohn Panza (played).
I mention that I was formulating a written review of the album and while that is in the works (yeah I am the guy who seems to be late on everything lately), here is a link to the Hotel in L.A. review:
