This is the first concert from the Computer World tour which started on May 24th, 1981. Concerts in the UK, Paris and Germany were already planned for May that year, but had to be postponed to June, July and August due to technical difficulties with the video projection. Original dates can be even seen on ticket for these concerts. The one concert in Chemnitz, (former) East Germany was later cancelled due to strict policies towards Western artists in the GDR.

It was thought that this concert took place on May 19th, 1981 which is a misconception coming from the Central Passage bootleg which has the mislabeled date. According to tickets and posters, it took place on May 24th.

Various songs from the albums Computer World, The Man Machine and Trans Europe Express were performed here for the first time. Those are Numbers, Computer World, It's More Fun To Compute, Computer Love, The Model, Neon Lights, The Hall Of Mirrors, Pocket Calculator and The Robots.

According to Karl Bartos' auto-biography, "Der Klang der Maschine", a Tascam Portastudio 144 4-track device was used for the basic playback. The 1st track was used to synchronize the Synthanorma, used for synth sequencing, and the Triggersumme, used for drum sequencing. Ralf's mini moog sequences were recorded on the 2nd track, the vocoder on the 3rd track and the basic drum loop on the 4th track.

Ralf operated the mini moog, Karl used a modified Korg PS-3300 synthesizer, Wolfgang switched the drum patterns on the Triggersumme and Florian mainly sang through the vocoder. In some songs, he sang without vocoder to assist Ralf with the vocals. Only in Autobahn, the drum pads were touched by Karl and Wolfgang and the flute by Florian.

Due to character limitation, the rest of the concert description is linked here: pastebin.com/JzSxGUse

The only bootleg that has a recording of Florence 1981 is the aforementioned Central Passage bootleg. It was put on 2 vinyl LPs. A disadvantage of vinyls is length limitation. Because of it, the bootlegger increased the speed by 9%, so that it fits on these 2 LPs.

There's a source on YouTube where the tempo is corrected, but not the pitch. It would require stretching to also correct the pitch which would result in lots of stretching artifacts ruining the audio quality. I thought for a long time, that this source was the only one that's available until I found out that I already have a properly speed corrected source.

For this home remaster, I didn't used the source I have, but Babass_' source because it has more depth and is stronger on the low frequencies. I equalized every song individually. The kick drums are suppressed which I tried to mitigate by increasing their frequenices. Nothing can be done about the kick drums in a few songs like The Model where they are completely suppressed.

High and mid frequencies are increased as well, so that some elements can be heard more clearly since this concert was recorded with quite wet acoustics. As mentioned, this recording comes from a double vinyl. Vinyls are known for their click and pop noises if they aren't cleaned properly. Lots of these clicks and pops are throughout the entire recording. Audacity has a tool for removing these noises, but for me it refused to remove them, so, I did it manually. It was repetitive and thus annoying as hell! I couldn't remove all clicks and pops because not all of them can be seen in the waveform, but I could reduced them.

This recording has high fidelity, but due to the problems I mentioned and the slightly loud white noise, it would almost have B+, so an A-~ it is.
