Kotaro Lives Alone is a strange anime about a strange boy in a strange circumstance. A newer series to Netflix, this adaptation of a seinan manga of the same name is a heart wrenching emotional rollercoaster, but also a perfect example of why I love the medium of anime.

Kotaro lives alone is the story of a four year old who's entire community comes together to support him because his parents are no longer around. While the anime is funny and quirky with lovable characters, the slowly revealed story regarding why Kotaro's parents aren't with him anymore is gut wrenching, but shines light on many of the issues that can plague parents, women's health, and more.
