Shipping games is hard and developers need to leverage every advantage they have if they want to succeed. AAA studios face ever increasing scopes and budgets while the bar for indie developers is ever rising. One solution to address both of these issues is to use the tools and assets already at your disposal work smarter; not harder. It's easy for developers to get mired up in developing and noodling on new systems that don't directly contribute to the betterment of the player's experience.

But you don't re-invent the wheel every time, you can spend more time tuning the racecar it's attached to: we don't ship Artisan rendering engines or character models from Locally Sourced, organic geometry: we ship games and it's what the player experiences that matters! With practical examples from Battlefield 1, Battlefield 4 and real life, we will discuss re-using and building up existing assets and systems in ways that don't cheat the player from new experiences but springboard into ever higher levels of immersive experiences..
