Is the new Hyundai Kona Electric actually more efficient than the original Kona 64kWh ? Or is it the other way around, because the new Kona 65kWh (2024) is bulkier?
In this real-world back-to-back test, we drive the original Kona EV and the new 65kWh Kona on the same route (well initially anyway...) — starting on the London Circular before heading out for another 20 miles of mixed driving. Same roads, same conditions, same driving style.
This is a proper mile-by-mile efficiency comparison to see:
- Which Kona uses less energy
- How the newer model compares in real UK driving
- If Hyundai improved the formula… or just made it bigger
The original Kona built a reputation as one of the most efficient EVs ever made. The new Kona brings more space, tech and comfort — but can it match the legendary efficiency of the old one?
