Sweaters are fun to make, and many people avoid them thinking they are complicated. Here's a video with a quick overview breaking down basic sleeve separation on a top-down sweater after the "yoke" (the part between the collar and the underarm) is knit: the sleeves are moved to holders, extra stitches are cast on to bridge the gap between front and back stitches, and you continue on the torso/body. This works best for yokes made with a raglan seam, or all-over increases. This video is a little longer than some because I take you with be as I separate one of the sweaters I'm currently working on, my Elowen pullover from Ready Set Raglan by PomPom Publishing:
