Knitting How-to: Mini Garter Tab for Crescent Shawls (3 stitch edging shown). Using working needles, cast on three stitches with the backwards loop cast-on and place a locking stitch marker through them. Knit one row through the back loop and turn work. Knit three stitches through the back loop, then turn work 90 degrees and yarn-over, pick up and knit one stitch through the back loop from the top of the garter ridge, YO, and place stitches held on the locking stitch marker back on the left needle. Knit three stitches through the back loop. Turn work. Knit three stitches through the back loop, then (purl one, yarn-over, purl one) into the existing yarn-over, purl one stitch in the middle, (purl one, yarn-over, purl one) into the existing yarn-over, and knit three stitches through the back loop.
